WHAT I DO

What I handle on your behalf

From your first set of accounts to quarterly VAT returns and payroll, I cover the essentials so you can focus on building your business.

01

Bookkeeping and Year-End Accounts

I keep your day-to-day records accurate, reconcile your bank each month, and prepare your year-end accounts ready for filing. Whether you are a sole trader or a limited company, your books will be clean and up to date. You will always know where your money stands.

02

Corporation Tax and Self Assessment

If you have set up a limited company, I handle your corporation tax return from start to finish and make sure every allowable deduction is claimed. For sole traders and directors taking a salary, I also file your personal self assessment tax return. Nothing gets missed and no deadline is left to chance.

Filing and compliance
03

VAT Returns and Payroll

Once your turnover reaches the VAT threshold, or if you register voluntarily, I advise on the right VAT scheme and handle your quarterly submissions. If you take on your first employee or pay yourself through payroll, I manage the payslips, pension contributions, and RTI submissions to HMRC. You will always be compliant.

WHY IT WORKS

Why clients come back every year

Startups stay with STZ Accounting because they get straight answers, real business insight, and someone who actually picks up the phone.

You always deal with David directly

I have over 25 years of real-world business experience before qualifying as an accountant. That means I understand what you are going through, not just what the numbers say. When you message me with a question, you hear back from me the same day. No passing you to a junior who does not know your situation.

Fixed prices, agreed in advance

You get a fixed price quote before any work begins. There are no hourly rates ticking away in the background and no invoice that catches you off guard. For early-stage businesses watching every pound, that kind of certainty matters.

Plain English, not accounting jargon

I explain what everything means in terms you can actually use. If your management accounts show something you need to act on, I tell you what it means for your business and what to do next. You will feel in control of your finances, not confused by them.

GETTING STARTED

How it works

Getting your startup’s accounting sorted with STZ Accounting takes four straightforward steps.

01

Book a free call

You book a free, no-obligation call directly in my calendar. We talk through where your business is, what you need right now, and what is coming up. You do not need to prepare anything formal.

02

Get a fixed price quote

After the call I send you a clear, fixed price quote covering exactly what I will do for you. No ranges, no estimates. You know the cost before you agree to anything.

03

I get set up as your agent

Once you are happy to go ahead, I register with HMRC as your agent and take over all the filing and compliance work. I will let you know what information I need from you and when.

04

Your accounts run on time, every time

From that point, I manage your bookkeeping, tax returns, VAT, and payroll to every deadline. You reply to the same day if you have a question. Your job is to run your business.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

Not every business needs a full accounting service from day one, but most founders benefit from having one earlier than they think. Getting your structure right at the start, whether as a sole trader or limited company, avoids costly corrections later. A short call is usually enough to work out what you actually need right now versus what can wait.
Bookkeeping is the day-to-day recording of what money comes in and goes out. Accounting is the bigger picture work, like preparing your year-end accounts, calculating your tax bill, and filing returns with HMRC. Most startups need both, and I handle both under one fixed monthly fee.
For a sole trader, packages start from £150 plus VAT per month and cover bookkeeping, VAT returns, annual accounts, and your personal self assessment. Limited company packages start from £215 per month. You get a fixed price before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
Most clients come to me with books that have not been kept properly. That is not a problem. I have seen it many times before and there is always a way to get things straight. Book a free call and we can talk through what you have and what needs to happen next.
